🏞️ Community Impact Statement — Unity Harbour

Unity Harbour is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Oregon and operating nationally to support individuals and families displaced by unjust laws, poverty, disability, and systemic neglect. While we provide referrals, assistance, and crisis navigation across the U.S., our physical refuge infrastructure is currently based in Colorado, where legal and partnership conditions allow us to build land-based solutions at scale.

Our current projects span two Colorado properties:

  • A 36-acre cooperative village in Saguache County, designed to house 20 tiny homes and 30 RVs with full independent infrastructure: well, septic, electricity, internet, and shared amenities

  • A 5-acre emergency retreat parcel in Costilla County, used under 14-day land use protections to support transitional shelter and legal strategy

We operate under a charitable housing model, keeping costs intentionally low while offering permanent stability and real legal protection. Members contribute to infrastructure and shared maintenance, but Unity Harbour retains nonprofit oversight and affordability standards for those in need.

We provide:

  • Emergency relocation support for those fleeing reproductive bans, anti-trans legislation, or political persecution

  • Monetary assistance and referral coordination for people facing urgent housing, medical, or legal crisis

  • Legally binding land stakes under a cooperative structure, granting members recorded protection against displacement

  • Wraparound mutual aid systems rooted in trauma-informed care, community governance, and disability access

Our village is tailored to those often excluded or endangered in traditional systems:

  • 🧠 Neurodivergent and disabled residents who need structure, autonomy, and consistent power

  • 🌈 LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially trans folks, who face violence in mainstream shelters

  • 👩‍👧 Single parents and survivors seeking autonomy and peer support

  • 🪖 Veterans and rural residents disconnected from aging or inaccessible systems

  • 👵 Elderly individuals who are at risk of eviction, health crisis, or social abandonment

  • ⚖️ People criminalized for abortion, gender identity, or protest — who need a legal shield as much as a roof

We are not building temporary shelters. We are building infrastructure for survival, rooted in land, legality, and love.

Unity Harbour is where crisis ends and community begins.

Unity Harbour is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in Oregon—home to inclusive policies such as the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), which ensures access to gender-affirming care, reproductive healthcare, and disability support. Inspired by this foundation of dignity and accessibility, Unity Harbour exists to support individuals and families navigating oppression, displacement, or systemic barriers.

Though currently in its startup phase and underfunded, Unity Harbour is deeply committed to creating a future transitional shelter, even if it takes years—a safe and inclusive sanctuary for those fleeing hostile environments. This shelter will provide vital support including childcare, internet access, and a range of wraparound services that empower residents to reclaim agency and build toward stability.

Our Vision: A Modern-Day Town Square

Unity Harbour aims to grow into a dynamic community hub—a place as vital and connective as a town square. Here, people will come not only for refuge, but for access to healthcare, employment assistance, digital resources, child and family services, and the kind of belonging that fosters healing and possibility.

Though nonpartisan in accordance with our nonprofit status, we recognize the realities our community members face and strive to meet them with compassion, safety, and care.

Our Team

Our team is made up of dedicated individuals, many hurt by dystopian laws, dedicated to making a change for those escaping the cruel reality that Project 2025 made happen in red states. Currently volunteers but hoping to compensate them for their hard work someday.
