Unity Harbour

Unity Harbour’s work is grounded in real lives, real outcomes, and real stability created where systems have failed.

We have directly supported and housed individuals who are often excluded from traditional services, including:

A military veteran in need of stable housing
LGBTQIA+ individuals facing displacement or safety concerns
Single mothers navigating crisis situations
Families at risk of losing custody due to lack of resources
Individuals without access to traditional banking, paperwork, or institutional support
People fleeing unsafe environments who needed immediate refuge

Our Costilla County site has functioned as a true refuge- offering stability and dignity to people who could not access shelters, did not qualify for assistance programs, or were actively falling through bureaucratic cracks.

Beyond housing, we have provided direct assistance for:

Life-saving reproductive healthcare
Gender-affirming care (including HRT)
Emergency lodging
Food and basic necessities
Transportation to critical appointments
Crisis stabilization during high-risk life transitions

This is not abstract advocacy. This is tangible, on-the-ground intervention that has helped people survive. While we can't help everyone, we try to help those we do enough for survival in a humane and inclusive way.

About Unity Harbour

Unity Harbour is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to expanding access to housing, stability, and supportive services for individuals and families navigating economic hardship, geographic isolation, systemic barriers, or complex life transitions.

We are headquartered in Oregon and currently operate land-based infrastructure projects in Colorado. Our mission is to build inclusive, accessible pathways toward long-term community well-being through practical, grounded solutions rather than institutional dependency.

Current Projects (in partnership with SkyStone Vale)

36-acre Cooperative Village in Saguache County, Colorado
A long-term cooperative housing site designed to host up to 50 residents through a mix of tiny homes and RV placements. The site is being developed with intentional infrastructure, including:

Water systems
Sanitation solutions
Power access
Internet connectivity
Shared gathering areas
Community support spaces

This project is designed to demonstrate that stable, affordable, community-centered housing can exist outside exploitative models.

5-acre Transitional Property in Costilla County, Colorado
A short-term stabilization site operating in compliance with local land-use ordinances. This property serves as a temporary refuge for individuals experiencing displacement, transition, or acute instability; providing safety without institutionalization.

Our Team

Unity Harbour is led by a team of mission-driven individuals, many of whom have personally experienced displacement, legal uncertainty, or exclusion under shifting policies. That lived experience informs everything we build.

All leadership currently serves in a volunteer capacity. Our long-term plan includes equitable compensation structures that honor both labor and lived experience.

🏕️ Startup Infrastructure & Equipment — $32,653 (40.7%)
Acquisition of multi-use RV, construction tools, infrastructure materials, and essential startup supplies to support on-site operations.

📣 Fundraising & Outreach — $16,138 (20.1%)
Public engagement efforts including outreach campaigns, materials, and events to grow awareness and community support.

🫱 Direct Support to Individuals — $7,226 (9.0%)
Emergency housing, supplies, and critical assistance for individuals in crisis.

🧾 Modest Founder Compensation — $4,200 (5.2%)
Reported 1099-MISC compensation for extensive administrative, legal, and operational labor required to establish and operate the nonprofit.

🏞️ Reallocated Site Reserve — $20,000 (24.9%)
Originally reserved for long-term site development, these funds were redirected to urgent needs including:

Emergency stabilization for survivors of displacement and abuse
Transportation and shelter support
Continued land maintenance and infrastructure groundwork

This reflects Unity Harbour’s adaptive model: prioritizing human needs when timelines shift while still pursuing long-term housing solutions.
