Pregnant-capable people—especially those facing high-risk pregnancies—need a place where they’re safe, supported, and free from judgment.
Unity Harbour, founded in Oregon, provides inclusive support for individuals impacted by anti-LGBTQIA+ laws, abortion restrictions, homelessness, systemic oppression, and domestic abuse. We are hoping to build a transitional shelter rooted in compassion, dignity, and empowerment.
“There are no words that can accurately convey how much this organization means to me. These guys have been there for me in some of the scariest, most difficult moments, and saved me from losing housing. They later went on to help pay for my healthcare, including HRT.
If you’re looking for a group that understands and validates you while helping the way you need help—not denigrating or judging, and definitely not making you feel guilty for needing help—then look no further than Unity Harbour.”

Mission Statement
Unity Harbour exists to provide steadfast support and transformative opportunities for individuals negatively impacted by restrictive policies, with a central focus on inclusivity, personal freedoms, and addressing homelessness.
Vision Statement
Unity Harbour envisions a future where the effects of harsh policies are alleviated through a unified community dedicated to kindness, support, and empowerment.
As of March 2025, Carmen Broesder, founder of Unity Harbour, has volunteered more than 2,600 hours to building, operating, and advancing the organization.
Working an average of 50 hours per week for over a year, Carmen has led Unity Harbour’s growth with deep personal commitment, often during personal hours and without steady pay.
Her efforts have spanned nearly every aspect of the organization’s foundation, including:
These efforts have saved Unity Harbour tens of thousands of dollars in startup costs that would otherwise require paid staff, consultants, or contractors.
To maintain transparency:
Unity Harbour operates through a hybrid structure:
While the LLC does not currently generate profit, it creates substantial in-kind value by:
This structure enables Unity Harbour to provide real-world support even in the absence of major funding, while aligning with future goals of replication and local chapters across the U.S.
Carmen’s role remains voluntary for now, but as Unity Harbour moves toward financial stability, leadership compensation will be reviewed with transparency, equity, and community impact in mind.
Unity Harbour is rooted in service, accountability, and hope. These values will continue to guide its operations, partnerships, and long-term growth.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
